Adam and Steve unwind pre-trip on Steve's 1982 Honda Melody. The Welsh sun was out and everyone was full of energy. A bit too much energy.
Jim rolled up with his CF Moto 450MT in need of new knobbie tyres. Steve offered up the muscle and got to work, fitting a new tube in the process.
Not a cloud in the sky. Dreamy conditions for a weekend on the Welsh trails. First stop, ice cream breakfast.

By late morning the temperature was up to an almost unheard of 30°C across most of the UK. The riding became a hot and sweaty feat of endurance. Steve tries to cool down in the shade of his T700.
Ben looks like he needs a proper drink.
Jim hits the puddles hard with the aim of getting a proper drenching to cool down.
The team knew they would be out for the evening so a late meal was a chance to cool down and fuel up.
As the sun began to set the search for the perfect wild bivi began. It was time to trust instincts and follow your nose trusting that a flat secluded spot off the trail would present itself.
Chris is over the moon to get off the bike and take a break in the most beautiful of wild bivi spots.
The camp was almost perfect, the grass was long and soft, but also a tick haven. Jim used his large tarp to create a ground sheet, and have a little rest.
This was Chris' first night camping off the bike. A wild bivi is quite an introduction to this kind of adventure!
Jim on the other hand is a well seasoned and very relaxed pro.

Chris, Greg and Jim get cosy on the tarp. Shelter for the night was a sleeping mat, sleeping bag and bivi bag.
About five hours till the sun rises again to the east.
And the reward for all that effort...

Steve forgot to set his alarm clock. He opted for a small bivi tent which may have allowed him to sleep beyond sunrise.
Jim takes the morning poop to another level. Trowel and neck mounted loo roll dry bag.
Ben fits his knee braces to wear under his Mongolia In-The-Boot Pant 2.0. These knee braces help protect the knees from impact as well as from twist injuries.
The team gear up ready to leave. A final check of the camp spot to make sure we left no trace of being there.
Jim shoots Ben riding up 'Bomber Lane'. It was already starting to get warm by 9am so it was wise to ride the hard stuff early.
Chris was riding a brand new Royal Enfield Himalayan kitted out with prototype Adventure Spec Hard Parts. The bike was so new it had less than 40 miles on the clock at the start of the trip.
Some of the trails around Barmouth are fairly challenging, especially on a luggage loaded bike that you've not ridden before. Thankfully many hands help to make light work. Jim and Steve pull out the muscle to help Chris get the Himi 450 up the hill.
Adam and his Husqvarna 350 have a little break. Thankfully the bike is light so it was no drama to get up and going again.
A ruined shepherds cabin was the perfect excuse to get out of the sun for a coffee break.
Ben's not been on the bike for about a year. It didn't take long for his hands to blister up. Must ride more!
Once upon a time this scene would have been less 'recreation' and more 'work'. The green lanes and trails we ride for fun were cut into the landscape to get people and livestock around Wales. This stone building would have been a welcome shelter for a shepherd in winter.
Jim jettisons himself from his new CF Moto 450Mt after picking the wrong line. Thankfully he was wearing the new Adventure Spec Supershirt 2.0 and prototype Superpant. No damage done.
The intensity of the heat caught us off guard and made the going very slow. What had been intended a quick breakfast pit stop turned into ice cream, lunch and a sea swim.
